Plaza Premium Lounge is a Hong Kong-based company specializing in designing, building, managing and operating airport lounges; airport transit hotels; and meet and greet service. The company pioneered the concept of airport pay-in lounge in 1998, opening its first lounges in Hong Kong International Airport and Kuala Lumpur International Airport. In early 2014, the company was operating 90 lounges at 23 airports, mostly in the Far East, Canada and the Middle East. The lounges are open to travelers regardless of airline or class of travel. Plaza Premium Lounge is the first airport lounge network to achieve ISO 9001:2008 Certification and the Caring Company certification. The company management division, Plaza Premium Lounge Management Limited, works with several airlines to develop and operate their airport lounges. ==History== Malaysian-Chinese businessman, Mr Song Hoi-see is the founder of the airport pay-in lounge concept. He developed the concept based on his personal bad experience at the airports when he left his bank job to start his own business, he found that there was a stark contrast between the airport experience of first/ business class and economy class travellers. He found as a businessman flying economy class, his airport time was very uncomfortable and inefficient, this is turn prompted him to imagine a lounge which is opened to all travelers, giving the option of an airport lounge to all travelers. In 1998, he opened his first lounges in Hong Kong International Airport and Kuala Lumpur International Airport, introducing the world's first airport pay-in lounge. To extend the services, the company opened Plaza Hair & beauty Salon (later renamed Wellness Spa and Salon) in 1999 offering salon and spa services at the airport (a first of its kind), in the years to come, the concept spread to other airports, prompting the opening of Plaza Premium Lounge around the world. The company marked its 15th anniversary in 2013 by opening of a new flagship lounge at Hong Kong International Airport, which it described as being the largest airport pay-in lounge in the region.
